Wildblood & Queenie’s Wonders 02.11 ‘I love the couch baby!’

Here we go then, wet, wild and wonderful February. Glorious in its intentions, it’s the season of promise and this month’s Wildblood & Queenie soundtrack will only improve your mood, honest. (And yes, we’ve gone all double act on you. Call it a job share. Twice the lady, twice the action and twice the passion.)

If ease is what you need then ‘Cream Chilled Electronica’ will deliver with its chilled prime cuts. Everyone whose ever laid down a horizontal beat is onboard. Ear-catchers galore including Frankie Knuckle’s mix of Rufus and Chaka Khan ‘Ain’t Nobody’, and the wonderful Audio bound Tensnake. Also fuelling our winter soul is the exquisite ‘Love Affair’ by Phil Weeks on Robsoul Recordings. Excuses the pun (that’s Queenie for ya) but this soulful number made us go weak at the knees. As did Tommy Largo’s ‘At A Different Tempo’ on Alphabet Music and the swish house of Harold Heath’s ‘Family Affair’ on Lost My Dog Records.
After January’s resolution fuelled lists this month may feel a bit ‘to do’ when it comes to must hear albums. No apologies here, there’s too much good stuff for you to check out. There’s the sweet as honey house of Reel People’s ‘Golden Lady’ on Reel People Music and the Various Artists that make up the slung back grooves of ‘DJ Kicks Wolf + Lamb VS Soul Clap’ on !K7. As for bass you won’t go wrong with the charm of Marco Carola’s ‘Play It Loud’ on Minus, a timely techno masterpiece, the masterful jack your big booty bass of ‘Fabric 56: Derrick Carter’ on Fabric Records or the sheer recorded lunacy of Drop The Line’s ‘Enter The Night’ on Trouble & Bass. (Yes ladies we get it!)
Finally this month’s OMFDisco! First up if you haven’t already checked out the latest in the Disco Discharge series do so. Never has ‘Cruising The Beats’ for a ‘Disco Fever’ in ‘Euro Beats’ land been so fine. Secondly trust in Dave a.k.a. Joey Negro. Because his ‘The Soul Of Disco Vol.3’ on ZR Records is everything you’d expect it to be and more, delivering something very special for the disco bears out there. ‘I can Do It (Anyway You Want)’ are words enough. Do yourself a favour, enjoy.
