CHURCH OF ITALO is a Brighton-based creative collective and club night working at the intersection of queer nightlife, fashion, irreverence and theory. Built around catholic-camp aesthetics, it combines Italo disco, house, ballroom and euro-disco with fashion and performance. Church of Italo’s ongoing interest in queer history runs through themed nights like Getting Medieval, a night named after Carolyn Dinshaw’s Getting Medieval: Sexualities and Communities, Pre- and Postmodern, and through its connection to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, with an event blessed by Mother Mandragora earlier this year. Alongside this is its sister party, Gender Trouble, an offshoot focused on punk, darkwave and alternative club sounds. Gender Trouble centres alternative drag and performance that sits between sexy and the grotesque.
THE REAL HOUSE DYKES WITH WILDBLOOD AND QUEENIE = Two queer disco dears who love the filth of a decent bass line and the uplift of disco-infused groove. Always fuelled by the divas and forever in love with the cowbell, Wildblood and Queenie are a Brighton DJ duo with a passion for the sassy side of disco and house music, its queer roots and glitter-fuelled magnificence. Meeting thanks to Kate’s club night Shameless Hussies back in 199,3 Wildblood and Queenie have become a partnership that campaigns, creates, DJ and giggles together, as they bring their love and ND reality to the club scene, ensuring the joy they create on their 1BTN radio show runs through every bpm they share on the dancefloors. With Wildblood and Queenie on the decks, the jump will always be had. With Wildblood and Queeni,e the disco, classic house and Italo house joy is forever included.
