New Mix: Wildblood + Queenie’s Final Summer Wonder of 2011

After a summer of loveliness with a soundtrack provided by some seriously new fine music, we decided to bring you one final Summer Wonder of 2011. Inspired by the massive response we had to our Electronic Music Bears mix in August we’ve hit the tech fuelled, jack heavy, acid tinged house road again. EBM’s rule of anything but the circuit certainly worked with us! So here it is – a reflection of our summer loves. Queenie’s late night sets at DSD, Wildblood’s sessions at Shame and Audio, late night sessions with Jamie Jones, those Rebel moments, Williams and gang on the Sunday Sundae terrace, the tunes blasting out of our open windows all summer long. We call it house. Occasionally we call it acid. Sometimes its labelled tech, occasionally its funky. Whatever it is, its four to the floor and we’re jackin’ to it.

First up we have Quentin Harris’ take on Meme’s summer sensation complete with its tech sensitivities and funky bassline, then we wondered into diva territory with the outstanding Miguel Migs and Evelyn Champagne King as those Ghosts of Venice treat us to funked fuelled guitar essential. Then its on to the business of jackin’ that body which courtesy of Phil Week‘s mesmerising ‘By My Side’ is guaranteed! Random Factor and Gareth Whitehead ensure our mix heads in a deeper direction with their stunning ‘Age Old’ whilst the Duffie recommended Veitengruber hypnotises with his filthy minimal that is ‘Junk’. Yes I’m wondering too what I’m gonna do with all that junk in my trunk. And to ensure the Duffie / Connell household stay happy we’ve slipped in a little Madge – like you do.

‘Easy Love’ is a beaut of a tech track, looping and lovely as we fall further into the mix whilst Human Life‘s ‘Uptown’ just had to be there. One of QJ’s tunes of year it is true lesson in the wonder of proper house music. Danny Jay and Raoul French deliver beats of the must-strut kind whilst Prok & Fitch do what we’ve know they can always do. Deliver a big room wonder without the commercial compromise. Finally we end up where we started all those years ago. A blast of nu-skool / old -skool acid house from Lee Picton that will appeal to the deviant in all of us.

So there you have it. Our final Summer Wonder for this year. Next up we’ll be going autumnal on ya. I guess that means house with added mittens. Should be interesting. Enjoy x
