Wildblood + Queenie’s July Wonders

Gscene_Jul2013_
Well what can we say but summer is about to finally start. So here’s something to help with the sweat! First up is the glorious Southport Weekender Volume 10: Mixed by Miguel Migs & Atjazz on Miroma Music. If you like it deep, jazz or boogie fuelled this will do the business for ya. As will the brilliance of Nathan Adams’ Audio Therapy on Tribe Records UK. With the legendary Louie Vega, Josh Milan, DJ Spinna and Sean McCabe gracing the producer credits, this venture in house is seriously sound. For those of us needing a little Balearic sunshine it has to be Gecko Beach Club Formentera: Volume Two Compiled and mixed by Chris Coco and Pete Gooding for Seamless Recordings. A confirmation of the wonder of island life, it brings much needed heat to Blighty and adds a sparkle to your day, regardless of the view outside your window.

Finally our must-haves of the month. First up is Various Artists Cocoon Compilation on Cocoon Recordings, which delivers the kind of techno that has its head in Frankfurt and its heart in Ibiza. Lovely. Second is Various Artists Welcome To Ibiza (First Day Of Summer Sampler) on Jaywalker Recordings. If you ever needed to get a reason to hit the terrace this is it. And finally this month’s blow me that’s mighty fine award goes to Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs ‘Get Lost VI’
on Crosstown Rebels. As Hot Chip would put it we’ve been listening to this over and over and over as its mix of rarities, stunners and exclusives from Jamie Jones, Subb-an, Eats Everything and Seth Troxler look set on keeping us hooked all summer long. Happiness is a compilation from Crosstown. Enjoy.

Catch Wildblood and Queenie (yep Kate has finally left the library!) at DSD, Sunday Sundae, the Wild Fruit Dance Tent, The BPGGW Secret Garden Party at Neighbourhood… and on Sauce FM.
