We love you Brighton Pride

So it may take my autistic soul a little longer to decompress, regroup and stop singing “Do You Wanna Funk?” over and over, but wow, what a Brighton Pride weekend that was. From the moment we pressed play in the 1BTN bunker on Friday afternoon in tribute to Tom Moulton to the last disco tune we played at Sunday Sundae there was nothing but love. Love for each other, love for our city, love for our fabulous LGBTQI+ community and allies.

Special shout-outs to our amazing 1BTN family, Jayne, Mikey and those Illustrious Blacks – we will be forever your placard creators, you stylish glorious MF’s you. Gratitude and immense appreciation to the team at Brighton Pride – Paul, Chris, Dulcie, Sami – without you our Pride wouldn’t be – thank you especially for bringing protest back to Brighton Pride. To Remi and Brighton Beach House – thanks for keeping our weekend stylish and the AF cocktails tasty and to Patterns and our always fam  – what can I say other than wow – you know how to bring the party. Thanks to every Patterns DJ, manager, security and bar staff who kept us watered, well and safe. You always bring the love and Pride. (And the big girls’ pants eh Gemma!) Love to everyone who came and danced with us at Pride, Patterns and the PVP. You made two old queers very happy. And more love to Becca for keeping us both sane. And to Queenie, my ever Queenie thank you for helping me keep the grooves on point all weekend. The disco always sounds better with you. Brighton you were everything Pride should be. Connecting our communities as we campaigned, fundraised, queued for the loos, reunited, hugged too hard and partied together. Donna would have been proud. We all felt love. Thanks for making it so.
