Brighton has been the making of us, the queer in us, the disco in us. It has given us a home, a community, a dancefloor, a Pride to call our own. Playing records to souls who love this seaside wonder of a city as much as we do is our lifetime’s pleasure. One we are so chuffed to still be asked to do, three decades on since our first Pride together in 1993, marching for the rights so many of us take for granted today. Playing the tunes of our disco pioneers at Brighton Pride weekend always feels mighty real, a chance to bring the queer disco soundtrack to the Pride Village Party crowds and share those sequined-infused beats with you. Dancing, loving, being. Grinning at Roo, proud of Dulcie, waving at the lesbians, feeling like the slightly creaking queer elders we are, giggling with Edna, chuffed as fuck, proud of who we’ve all become, aware of the Trans rights we still need to fight for, part of this family we call Brighton Pride. It may not be perfect but it’s ours. And we’re proud to be part of it. Year after year, decade after decade, always certain that we feel (a deeper) love.

In other words, we’re playing the Pride Village Party on Sunday 4th August 8pm-9pm fundraising for The Rainbow Fund alongside some rather fine DJs. Yeah, it’s just playing records on a scaffolding tower on Marine Parade outside Patterns on a Brighton Pride Sunday afternoon to you. But to us, to us, it’s everything. See you at the front. We’ll be the ones dancing and grinning at Roo.
