Blimey that was crap. There she was. A happy and hopeful Hammer, 45 minutes away from the Carling Cup final and a face off with my beloved Gunners. But that sweet missus of mine has the misfortune of being born into an affliction for which there is no cure. The family team is West Ham and so Queenie’s die (hard) was rolled. Hammer till she … Continue reading Conflict averted! Me and my West Ham missus
Here we go then, wet, wild and wonderful February. Glorious in its intentions, it’s the season of promise and this month’s Wildblood & Queenie soundtrack will only improve your mood, honest. (And yes, we’ve gone all double act on you. Call it a job share. Twice the lady, twice the action and twice the passion.) If ease is what you need then ‘Cream Chilled Electronica’ … Continue reading Wildblood & Queenie’s Wonders 02.11 ‘I love the couch baby!’
I’ve just made a mess in our kitchen. Rummaging for a snack. And I came back with a carrot. A bloody carrot. It’s nul points you see and that’s all that matters this week. And for the next 19 weeks come to that. Because after much thought, dodgy Xmas pics and jean shopping frustration (big waist + long legs + lesbian = grrr!), I’ve the … Continue reading Dreaming of crumpet
Since Erlend Øye dropped his DJ Kicks in 2004 I’ve always consumed the comp with a passion. Hot Chip, Booka Shade, Annie, The Glimmers, Tiga, Carl Craig. Each to their own and each dear to me. This consumption is set to continue as I can’t get enough – no just can’t get enough – of the kook kool of DJ Kicks latest Wolf + Lamb … Continue reading Department of Records – Wolf + Lamb vs. Soul Clap
Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Bored. Finally after weeks of nearly properly poorly my immune system has broken down. And I’m oink ridden. H1N1 is here and I’m exhausted; coughing and spluttering, sneezing and freezing, infectious and demanding, sweating and aching. I’m now Lucozade fuelled, ODing on Vicks, craving Soothers, praising the kind soul who invented balsam tissues … Continue reading My life in pyjamas
I just did the most played thing on iTunes. Hopeful that the house soul in me would win. It didn’t. This did. Says it all. Kinda. Continue reading Most played?
Blimey what a year that was! Words fail me so I’m reaching for the tunes, the finest labels, producers, DJ’s and artists of 2010. The best of my Wildblood Wonders. The ones you shouldn’t be without. It was a class year for Brighton deck action. Guy Williams and Fat Tony at DTPM, Hifi Sean @ Porno, Duffie at Rebel, Jonny’s closing Pride set, The Hoxton … Continue reading Wildbloods Wonder – Best of 2010
So here we go – skidding, sliding and sleighing our way out of another sound year. A year full of surprises, wonders, the odd disappointment and plenty of Radio Jo. Every Xmas I’ve hit in the past 17 years I’ve faced the same wonderful dilemma – what to get the missus this time? Should the gift reflect the love, the laughs or the lust? Just … Continue reading Crash, bang, whallop what a year!
We’re calling it queer funky tech, we’re calling it the best of 2010. Cos it is. End of. Here is our favourite soundwaves of the year. They’ve knocked off our feet and ensured a groove. On the dancefloor, in the car, pissing off the neighbours at 5am. Whatever. We love ‘em. A Wildblood and Queenie ‘Best of 2010’ Winter Warmer that reflects a year of … Continue reading Wildblood and Queenie’s Winter Warmer Vol 2 – Best of 2010
What makes the perfect Xmas tune? It’s hard to tell. I know what doesn’t – a certain Cowell and Co, a touch too heavy on the jingles, a little loose of the festive strings. Which why Spector does it and Simon doesn’t. Why it’s gotta mention the man in the red outfit and why it’s gotta bristle with charm. Festive charm. Something that will always … Continue reading Festive pitch
