Wildblood and Queenie’s June Wonders – Defected, Mikalis, Leodoris, Horse Meat Disco, Prok & Fitch and the ever special Bah Samba

A guy with a big hat once sung of seven sunny days in June. We’re banking on thirty as there’s so much decent music this month we’re going to need every moment. First up is the summer beckoning beats of ‘Defected In The House Ibiza ’11 Mixed by Simon Dunmore’. Quality forward looking house music with a party heart. It’s making our summer days. As are the sounds of Osulade’s ‘Pyrography’ on Yoruba Records. Magical organic house that will enlighten as it uplifts.

If lo-fi tech-house is what your soul desires look no further that the inspired new compilation from Henry Siaz for ‘Balance 019’. A collection of beguiling tunes that will sweeten any summer night. Soma Records return this month with ‘Hush-Bar Loops’ from Deepchord, a melodic wonder that drifts with beauty into beats of the low frequency kind.

We’re loving Bah Samba’s ‘Shake The Dog’ on Favouritizm. It has it all. Classy soulful house tunes, ghetto grooves that demand beers on the terrace and tunes that ensure you shake that arse long into the night. With artists including Monique Bingham, Quentin Harris, Ashley Beedle and The Super-Phonics onboard this is one album you can not have a summer without. House heads take note; Bah Samba will shake your tail feather all night long.

Finally there’s ‘Horse Meat Disco III’ on Strut Records. It’s so good we’re in a right disco dither, loving every second of this inspired double CD, compiled and mixed by the macho disco masters that are James Hilliard, Jim Stanton, Severino and Filthy Luka. This is disco at its best, complete with early hours sleazy classics, amazing re-edits (oh Ron Hardy you are spoiling us) and cool as hell re-issues. If you thought you knew disco, check out ‘Horse Meat Disco III’ and think again. As a connoisseurs’ t-shirt rather wonderfully put it, “Real men love disco”. This is real disco, for the boys and the girls so get real close and enjoy.
