Wildblood and Queenie’s October Wonders

We’re on the hunt for a red hot October. It might not warm outside (thank gawd we can postpone that bikini panic till 2014) but the tunes we have for you are mighty hot. First up is something to snuggle up to. Rae & Christian’s Mercury Risin on Late Night Tales sees Ed Harcourt and Gita Langley join the duo for some truly inspired downtempo adventures. Yep a varied tale that will stay with you all night long. If you need it house then we would highly recommend the first longplayer from Wolf Music. Medlar’s Sleep is a slice of forward thinking house music that has us all a quiver. As does the wonder that is Small Pyramids’ Slow it Down on Glasgow Underground. A real delight that nods in the direction of classic house with plenty of disco tendencies, its become a constant companion.

As for our longplayers of the month? Simple. Firstly Deetron’s Music Over Matter on Music Man Records had us by the heartstrings within one play. Its glorious deep yet intelligent house is divine with artists including Seth Troxler, Ben Westbeech, Ripperton and Hercules and Love Affair getting in on the action. If you treasure the decent it has to be Deetron. There are times in your life when your body tells you to dance, to love, to live. Deetron provides the soundtrack.

And finally its time to stand by your disco beds, dust down those dancing shoes and do the diva thing. Yep Donna Summer’s remix album is about to hit the shops and we can safely predict a queer stampede. Love To Love You Donna boasts some mighty fine remixers including the godfather of disco Georgio Moroder, Hot Chip, Chromeo & Oliver, Frankie Knuckles and those Masters at Work resulting in hot dancefloors and purists enraged debate. Its disco dears, but not necessary as we know it, which is probably why we love to love it so. Enjoy.
