Wildblood + Queenie’s Marvellous March ones: Pillowtalk, Wolf + Lamb, Tom Flynn, HNNY, Waze & Odyssey and more

Gscene_Mar14 cover

March is finally with us. Time for bunnies to bounce, spring to, erm, spring, and the tunes to get seriously wonderful. First play in this month’s Ouch house soundtrack goes to the classic soulful grooves of Natasha Watts and her sweet as debut album on Sedsoul. Expect to be spellbound as this mistress of melodies delivers a right bobby dazzler. Also shining this March are the downtempo sounds of Leon Vynehall’s Music for the Uninvited on 3024 and the handily labelled ‘ambient, 808 jack, nineties IDM, Chicago footstep, glitchy bits’ of Hiele’s Essential Oils on Ekster records. Electronica for the discerning ear.  We are also rather taken by Shur-I-Kan’s Precious Things EP on Lazy Days. Short but achingly sweet it blasts away the winter cobwebs with style. As does the brilliant new Futurists compilation on Moda Black. Blimey Moda, that house music of yours is right nice.

As for this months must-bloody-have longplayers? Firstly we have the wobble inducing techno of Neun, a Cocoon compilation mixed with real panache by Chris Tietjen. If you want a reason why techno can still move hearts and minds this is it. Glorious. As is the compilation 3 Years Of Fiakun on the, you guessed it, Fiakun label. A real thing of beauty this had us hopelessly hooked from our first listen with its electronica of exciting possibilities. Finally there is the latest stunner from the Wolf + Lamb label stable.  PillowTalk’s Je Ne Sais Quoi delivers prime cuts of pop melodies, classic R&B, soul and boogie to create glorious 21st century house music, proving this is a outfit you’ll want whispering sweet musical nothings in your ears till the cops come knocking. Perfection.
