So here they are. Our twenty tunes of glory from 2017. Twenty tunes that have accompanied some oh-so glorious moments we’ll not forget. Be it tears to Borderline on Brighton beach with Diablo, new friends and favourite DJs made on the dancefloor come 1am on NYD in Patterns (what a pleasure you were Harry and Mr Servito), goosebumps as we prep for our proudest Brighton weekend, right proper house Black Madonna piano addictions and Twitter messages of loveliness, disco that made us proud of four Horse Meat Disco boys, Roy and their naughty steed, memories of chasing raves back in the day, 25th anniversary wiggles in the rain (and hail FFS!), radio antics down the 1BTN bunker, salty seaside sessions at The Tempest, partying with our finest boy Mr Duffie as Wayne and Alex went all Madonna as we played Fuerteventura beachside with Mikalis and Williams (face detected honest!), and kept an impossible secret, catching credits as we bloom with Pride for our Wes, moments of melancholy that always connect, camp banter down the market courtesy of RadioReverb, Queenie’s continuing obsession with the best Berlin Toy Tonic boys, Butch-ing it up Superman style and, of course, being part of the best Brighton Pride family, be it with the girls on the park, beside our Patterns lovelies, pier side with Lionel and the Pride Village Party masses, queering it up down the Fortune Of War, striking a Big Love pose at Block, feeling the enduring love of Sunday Sundae or losing it big time in a huddle of house classics love courtesy of Maze & Masters come 3am on Pride Monday as we made it to one last dance, the love we felt in 2017 is here. All here. In twenty glorious tunes.
And yes whilst we appreciate Best Of Year charts are as common this time of year as,well, Best Of Year charts, we think this one is worthy of your attention. Tunes that have made our 2017 shine, delivered some priceless moments and continue, rather fabulously, to annoy our neighbours. Which is exactly how we like it. So go buy (yes buy not steal – remember kids Home Taping Is Killing Music), drop the needle or press play and turn up them real loud. It is what these 12″s of glory were made for. Enjoy.
