International Women’s Day Takeover on 1BTN

Coming together to make a difference is what International Women’s Day is all about for us. Uniting, campaigning, fundraising, inspiring and celebrating. And so we are thrilled to announced we will be joining a truly amazing line up of female DJs, presenters, artists, singer-songwriters and performers for 1BTN’s International Women’s Day Takeover on Thursday 8th March 2018. A day of great tunes, amazing women and fundraising for Brighton Women’s Centre.

The Queenie + Wildblood IWD Show will be a glorious, if slightly camp, celebration of the women in music who made our lives sound so sweet; the queer icons, groundbreaking singer songwriters, new wave goddesses, queens of disco, house divas and a certain lady who rocked a bubble perm in 1976 and explains our never ending obssesion with lasses in suits. And with some of our favourite female DJs leading their voices of support its gonna be just one of many amazing shows set to deliver a fifteen hours of wonderful broadcasting on the International Women’s Day Takeover on 1BTN. Coming together to #PressForProgress one beat at a time.

The 1BTN IWD Takeover will start at 9am and continue until midnight, featuring an array of different genres – from Motown, reggae, disco and funk to house, new wave, pop and electronic.

Presenting live in the 1BTN studio will be Sista Selectas, Molly Pop, Lucy ‘Elle J’ Small with leading soul singer Alice Russell and rising neo-soul star Isle of CC, Lucie Barat with actress Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Jayne Winstanley, Club Click with Catherine Sones & Hannah Sherlock (Love Is The Message), Queen Josephine & Kate Wildblood, Suze Rosser with Inspired Presents Women in Electronic Music featuring Lara Paradinas / Producer Girls, Clara Suess & Kerry Jean Lister, Jayney Blam Blam, Emma Thompson Murphy with Phantom Power, and Katie Blackwell & Chantal Irtelli with Women of the World.

The 1BTN International Women’s Day Takeover on Thursday 8th March. Tune in to 1BTN from 9am to midnight. Listen via 101.4FM and DAB in the Brighton & Hove area, and on anywhere in the world. #PressForProgress #PushTheBTN
