Disco runs through our veins, like Pride, like glitter. It’s the backbone of our days and the soundtrack to our nights. It’s the anthems of our community and the history of our dancefloors.
Since those early queer-fuelled nights filled with our black, Hispanic, gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans brothers and sisters, disco has delivered the dazzling beats for our revolution. There would be no uprising as sound as ours without those glittering BPMs, no revolution as utterly, utterly fabulous darling.
For disco is our life. Our life at Pride when we come together as a community to celebrate, commentate and campaign. Where every last dance is for those who came before us, every moment of Disco Heat for them. This Brighton Pride we salute the sound that made our LGBT+ nightclubs the connection that kept us safe and sane, through crisis, through persecution, through loss and through life. This is for every Handsome Man, every Miss Honey, every disco Boss, and every Love Sensation who came dancing with us. Happy Pride Everyone.
