Wildblood + Queenie’s October Wonders
Wow! Well that was some summer. Celebrations, catastrophes and corking moments. Loved it. But as autumn wings it way into view and the chill comes we need some heat to ensure we keep toasty this October. First up is the return of Layo & Bushwacka!’s Rising & Falling on Olmeto. A lot of beats have passed under the bridge since Love Story but this achingly … Continue reading Wildblood + Queenie’s October Wonders

Flyer of the year?
As I face the prospect of analysing flyer after flyer after flyer for my dissertation I can’t help but think few will top this beauty from Disco Deviant. Its just so on the button, or if you prefer, the beard. I love it. The night wont be bad either. So good Veet sales in Brighton may drop (its a girl thing!). It made me grin on … Continue reading Flyer of the year?

Perfect Distractions: Up Yours ‘Tonight’ Southern Fried Records
Lets rewind to fast forward. Its the only way to go. Especially when Hifi Sean and Severino are in charge. As this slice of acidic house proves its always best to trust a man with beard. And when there are two of them, well the result is a foregone conclusion. Trust the DJ – especially when they produce productions as fine as this. Hifi … Continue reading Perfect Distractions: Up Yours ‘Tonight’ Southern Fried Records

Jesus wept, this is GOOD! Sod the end of summer, I’m keeping warm with this filth. Oh I can’t wait till some 6am dancefloor, a DJ with balls and getting a sweat on to this monster. Yeah monster, a word I hate being used in the DJ sense but f*** it, this one such aforementioned monster. Acid is back but this time its got balls. … Continue reading Perfect Distractions: Noir ‘Satisfied’ NM2
Perfect Distractions: Waifs & Strays ‘Love On Another’ Leftroom Records
Sometimes only piano will do. No matter how fused, how fucked, only piano will do. Having had one of those weeks I needed a lift and Waifs & Strays delivered. Adorable, attention seeking and addictive. Check the Huxley & Matt Tolfrey remix for a darker tone. Or just return to the piano of title track Love On Another. It makes life shiny again. Buy it on Beatport Continue reading Perfect Distractions: Waifs & Strays ‘Love On Another’ Leftroom Records
