Wildblood + Queenie’s June Jumpers

So summer is officially here. Honest. Even if it’s pouring down, its here, all English like, which means we need to celebrate, open windows and play some good stuff. Which is handy because this months selections are hot, hot, hot.

First up with the eeks and bleeps of Manuel Tur’s Es Cub on the Freerange label. Its mighty, mysterious and mmm. The kind of house and techno music your mother warned you about. Ibiza is calling; make sure you take Manuel on your journey. Also worth a trip out for is the cute compilation that is Sek’s
 Prime Cuts: 02
on Lost My Dog. House of the jackin’, deep and mind-blowing kind is well represented as Sek keeps it underground and brilliant. Other longplayers you need in your life right now include the deeply cool electronica of Black Frames from Dave Aju on Circus Company and the frankly far too wonderful new compilation on Soul Clap Records Dancing On The Charles Vol. 2. Featuring a smorgasbord of right proper slo-mo grooves and deep house this will make your summer.

Finally our must must-dos of June. First up is the superb new Fabric compilation from Deetron. Fabric76 is a wonder to behold as every beat enchants and makes ones day. We are all a quiver over the divine Deetron. Again. And finally it has to be Hercules & Love Affairs The Feast Of The Broken heart on Moshi Moshi. Andy Butler’s inspired choice of collaborating with vocalist John Grant and his desire to strip back to the jack of it all has produced an stunning follow up to 2011’s Blue Songs. We may fight over the best track – has there been a braver song than I Try To Talk To You? – but we are united in our love for Hercules. The affair ain’t over. It’s just begun. Enjoy.
