Happy 2022 everyone. And what a better way to start a new year than with some downright shameless behaviour. It’s been thirty years since a club night called Shameless Hussies completely changed our lives. It brought us together. Less Jack more Jo, Shameless Hussies marked the moment we created a club night and started a love affair with house music, the Brighton queer club scene and each other. Together with Shameless champion Tiz Cartwright, the goddess Melissa Bushill, the legendary Michele Allardyce aka Meech Mash, the Venus Rising queens and the campaigning wonders Lesbian Strength, we worked to change the dancefloors of Brighton forever as the house music we loved demanded equality and we queer women emerged from the shadows and made some noise in our nightlife – complete with darkroom, DIY decor and banging bongos. Oh, those bongos!
So join us as we celebrate Shameless Hussies and Housewife’s Choice with three hours of right decent house music from the late 80s to the early 90s – 1995 to be precise. How else would we warm you up for Queer History Club(bing)! Vol #2 at Brighton Ironworks on Sunday 30th January?
