We’re calling it queer funky tech, we’re calling it the best of 2010. Cos it is. End of. Here is our favourite soundwaves of the year. They’ve knocked off our feet and ensured a groove. On the dancefloor, in the car, pissing off the neighbours at 5am. Whatever. We love ‘em. A Wildblood and Queenie ‘Best of 2010’ Winter Warmer that reflects a year of … Continue reading Wildblood and Queenie’s Winter Warmer Vol 2 – Best of 2010
This Friday I’ll be doing my DJ thing at Audio’s Christmas Party. Always one of Brighton’s brightest spots Audio will deliver a decent party for a very decent cause raising funds for the Clock Tower Sanctuary which provides food, support and shelter for our city’s young homeless community. There’s the very fine band :Kinema in the house as well as DJ’s Milton and George Nunn. … Continue reading Raising funds the Audio way this Xmas

There is something right special about my hometown Pride. Maybe it’s the sunshine, the salt, the sea, the queers but something about Brighton Pride gets to me every year. I’m always so bloody proud of my city as we gridlock traffic, sashay through the streets and dance to Daft Punk on buses and since 1993 Brighton Pride has provided me with memories I’ll never sell, … Continue reading Reclaim Brighton Pride – don’t let all that queer glitter be for nowt
What makes the perfect Xmas tune? It’s hard to tell. I know what doesn’t – a certain Cowell and Co, a touch too heavy on the jingles, a little loose of the festive strings. Which why Spector does it and Simon doesn’t. Why it’s gotta mention the man in the red outfit and why it’s gotta bristle with charm. Festive charm. Something that will always … Continue reading Festive pitch
Ho! Ho! you homo’s, it’s that very berry time of year again. Here’s hoping this selection of December’s do them tracks provides an antidote to those X Factor Christmas dirges and those “gawd Elf us” looping soundtracks. First up is the genius of Maceo Plex’s ‘Life Index’ on Crosstown Rebels. Edgy yet slip in easy, this mix of g-funk and tech will grab you for … Continue reading Wildblood’s December Wonders
“Maggie, Maggie, Maggie, Out! Out! Out!” Oh those where the days. Tories in, miners out. And raising placards high. Fast forward too many years and the chants are changing and the ages lowering. Seems the kids are revolting. And so am I. Back in education twenty years on, I’m finding myself on the front line as cuts loom and prospects look bleak. I’ve just missed … Continue reading Gove, leave us kids alone
I’ve always found tech house a genre of subtle beauty. There’s nowt like losing your soul in the wonder of tunes like Codec Shift ‘Viper Room’ or Pete Moss ‘Top Of The Trees’. Anyway we’ve been meaning to get our arse into gear and share our love of a few of these tunes and so here it is. A little deeper than our funked up … Continue reading New mix from me and the missus
Every year Brighton comes to together with some style to raise funds for The Rainbow Fund at the Sussex Community Foundation @ The Wild Fruit Red Party. Always one of my favourite nights out, the sea of sweet dancing red that greets you is worth the entry price alone. Add the many hostesses and drag queens demanding your admiration for their latest red creation and … Continue reading Painting Brighton Red
