On the bus quote of the day
21a – London Road to Brighton Marina Bunch of child benefit receiving, single parent mum’s & outraged grandma’s reflecting on the proposed public spending cuts in light of witnessing the heavy policing of anti-weapon producers protests. “David Cameron? Man of the people….my arse!” Continue reading On the bus quote of the day
Best decision
I used to believe in jinxes. Way longer than I gave up on the tooth fairy. Anyway it never seem that everything would go my way. Always felt the drag back. But this Autumn its different. Uni is proving the best decision. Yes I’m way older, and yes, occasionally I am the only student in the room who was there when they made an item … Continue reading Best decision

As for Duck Sauce? Still can’t get enough. Disappointed at the loss of the “Oh God’s” but hey, hey you can’t have it all. And as for certain Radio 1 DJ’s claiming they discovered it? Bugger off overpaid fat/vain boys. It was LoHands. She did it. She said. Continue reading Department of Records 12.10.10
There’s this thing my missus does
Reasons to love my missus part 49876. Queenie is a mumbler. “Do what?” is a staple part of our conversations. Anyway she does it and I love it. And it seems others do to. A B2B DJing sess at Big Love saw the inner mumble hit the dancefloor. She starts a sentence fine enough but then the words disappear into the bass heavy ether. “I … Continue reading There’s this thing my missus does

Wildblood’s October Oats
As we said farewell to this sound summer, I found myself considering DJ retirement. Maybe the time had come to hang up my headphones and head to the academic hills. Then I thought about it. The gigs are too sweet and, as always, the music to inspiring. As the genres continue to mutate and generate new thrills I just couldn’t quite bear to say farewell.
And why would I with corkers like this lot round? First up are the effortlessly stylish beats of Radio Slave’s ‘Radio Slave Presents Strictly Rhythms Vol.5’. They’ve raided what must be house music’s deepest vaults and come up with a mix so fine it’ll knock spots of your winter wardobe. Impressive work from the legendary New York label and Mr Slave. As is Soul Mekanik ’81 Deluxe’ on WONK. The missus and I can’t get enough of this classy 2010 interpretation of all things Mekanik as their 2005 release ‘Eighty One’ is reworked by the likes of Maurice Foulton, Freeform Five, Cosmic Me and the legendary Greg Wilson. Space dust has nothing on this cosmic electronic magic.
Other October delights come in the form of Commix’s minimal tech-fed D’n’B festival ‘Re:Call To Mind’ on Metalheadz, Masomenos’ minimal wonder ‘Balloons’ on Welcome To Masomenos and the cheeky chap that is ‘Sixteen F**king Years Of G-Stone Recordings’ on G-Stone. Beats you’ll find hard to beat.
Finally two reasons why I’ll not be packing in this playing loud tunes for living lark. Totally opposite ends of the spectrum, yet somehow completely connected. Simian Mobile Disco’s ‘Simian Mobile Disco Is Fixed’ on Defend Record makes the kind of connections that would, in the words of that great word(Smith), make Caligula blush. Warped beats, twisted electronica and just the right side of vocals to sweeten the seduction. I’m blushing as I type. Where as ‘Tensnake In The House’ on Defected you could take home to meet your mother. Well almost. They say it is the year of the Tensnake and if his mix of cosmic disco and LoFi funk is anything to go by it’s gonna be a bloody good year. A ‘Coma Cat’ kinda year. Enjoy.

Wildblood’s October Oats
1. Codec Shift ‘Viper Room’ Veryverywrongindeed Recordings
Proving minimal is a thing of real beauty with beats as dark as the evenings.

So there’s no tracklisting this time. Just a vibe. Yes Ferrer’s ‘Hey Hey’ was everywhere – whistled in cafes and thumping in traffic jams. Guetta branded the island but for me it was the likes of Ben Watt, Ralph Lawson, We Love, Chris Coco and the DeeJay Ibiza Residents that tweeked my tanned body. The I in Ibiza
In splitting the island between the haves and the have-it’s, Ibiza is pricing out the decent clubbers and bally-eric souls who truly appreciate the soul of the island. Continue reading The I in Ibiza
