We’re on the hunt for a red hot October. It might not warm outside (thank gawd we can postpone that bikini panic till 2014) but the tunes we have for you are mighty hot. First up is something to snuggle up to. Rae & Christian’s Mercury Risin on Late Night Tales sees Ed Harcourt and Gita Langley join the duo for some truly inspired downtempo … Continue reading Wildblood and Queenie’s October Wonders
Today I’m thumbing through tracks for a gig I wish wasn’t happening. Playing tunes for someone who should be there to hear them. Who always was there when I played. His stylish, glorious self either nodding approval at a new tune or (much later) drunkenly asking for a classic filled with ‘a little love’. Clubbing without him is gonna be strange, no in-fact its gonna … Continue reading Giving more than a ‘little love’ for Simon Seivewright
Today I needed a tune. A perfect perfect distraction. A tune filled with memories of disco queens and clubbing wonders. A tune reminding me of the possibilities of the future. And Hot Chip’s remix of Donna Summer’s Sunset People did it. Part of a forthcoming remix album Love To Love You Donna that we will no doubt be talking about and dancing too for a … Continue reading Perfect Distractions: Donna Summer Sunset People (Hot Chip Dub Edit)
I was 17 when I finally came out. The response wasn’t the warmest I had hoped for, my mum’s utterance ‘well at least you’ll be able to wear sensible shoes’ the kindest words that came my way but I made it. I became a great big homo. Proud of who I am. Proud of who I love. Proud of how I live. Which is why … Continue reading A battling Disco Deviant supporting LGBT Russia

Well my little dancing cherubs, the nights may be starting to get a little longer now that almost September’s upon us, but with an Indian summer forecast those balmy dark hours mean more time on the dancefloor. And who better to work up a late seasonal sweat with than Mr Revenge himself? So, get those boogie shoes on everyone because it’s time for a bit … Continue reading Queenie’s DJ Profile: Alex Baker
When I sat at my desk pondering how a post-dissertation, skint graduate could make a noise about the appalling legislation destroying LGBT lives in Russia, little did I think my desire to find a artist to design me a t-shirt to wear as I DJ’d at my favourite Brighton Pride gig would become the wonderous event that it did. Boy did Brighton embrace the fire … Continue reading I love it when an idea comes together
Blimey, well after that weekend we are still in a proud recovery position. Talk about amazing; Brighton we couldn’t be prouder of you. But after every party must come the reality, unless of course you have some decent tunes in your ears and a post-Pride bounce in your heart. We, dear readers, have both. The first to keep us grinning is the rather delicious (10 … Continue reading Wildblood + Queenie’s September Wonders
